McFadyen Pipeline Construction was engaged by Fulton Hogan to deliver stormwater and cross drainage works as part of the Walkerston Bypass project on the outskirts of Mackay in North Queensland. The scope included the installation of 29 cross drainage lines, ranging from 2 to 16 cell box culverts and 600mm to 1,500mm diameter pipework. The project also included the provision of labour hire support to assist with delivery across multiple work fronts.
Works were delivered in a regional environment exposed to extreme heat, humidity and a prolonged high rainfall period. Wet weather events added ongoing pressure to program and site access, requiring careful coordination to maintain progress and manage ground conditions.
Despite the challenging conditions, McFadyen maintained steady production and supported broader site delivery through experienced labour and reliable plant support. The project was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, demonstrating the team’s ability to adapt and deliver in demanding environments without compromising outcomes.
